The Marketing and Communications Department was established in the year
2003 as one of the pioneer departments in the School of Business and
Management Studies. In the same year, the Higher National Diploma (HND)
in Marketing programme was introduced. A Head of Department was also
appointed the same year, and twenty-seven students were enrolled as the first
batch of students. Over time, the department expanded its offerings to include
Bachelor of Technology (BTech), Bachelor of Science (BSc) programmes and
other specialized marketing courses.

Brief Biography
Dr. Samuel Adadi Akapule is a dynamic and results-driven Development Communication expert with a PhD in Development Communication and over 20 years of experience spanning journalism, public relations, strategic communication, and social change advocacy.
He currently serves as a Lecturer in the Marketing and Communication Department at Bolgatanga Technical University, where he teaches courses including Development Communication, Social and Behaviour Change Communication, Public Relations, and Media Studies (Print Journalism, Feature Writing, and Media Law and Ethics), as well as Communication Skills in the Liberal Studies Department.
In addition to his academic work, Dr. Akapule is the founder and lead consultant of Akaps C4D Consult (Communication for Development), a consultancy dedicated to applying the principles of development communication to real-world challenges.
His consultancy focuses on designing and implementing communication strategies that promote behavioural change, community engagement, and policy advocacy across sectors such as health, education, the environment, and governance.
