Department Overview
The Accounting and Finance Department was establish in 2006, following the dissolution of the Commercial Studies Department. It started offering a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting. The Department now trains students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Computerized Accounting, Bachelor of Technology in Computerized Accounting, HND Accountancy, HND Banking and Finance, Diploma in Banking Technology and Accounting, MSc in Accounting Technology, and MSc in Financial Engineering.. Equipping them with the skills required to deliver accounting and financial services in both the public and private sectors. ICT has an important role in increasing accounting competitiveness at both the local and global levels. All programs leverage ICT to prepare graduates to meet the expanding financial reporting requirements of modern enterprises. Manual decision-making techniques may be insufficient as standards of financial accounting and reporting integrity rise. Ghana began the process of digitizing its economy in order to boost growth and development using information and communication technology. The programs’ goal is to provide students with the essential skills to efficiently digitize the economy and meet the expectations of the labour market. Students learn about business application software and the basic principles of accounting. Students will learn how to build up and manage accounting systems using business-grade microcomputer software, from transaction entry to transaction closure.

Brief Biography
Dr. Fuseini Mahama teaches at Bolgatanga Technical University in Ghana as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Finance, School of Business and Management Studies. Had extensive training and work experience in non-formal sectors prior to starting as a lecturer. He held positions as an accounts officer at UNICEF Micro-Credit Scheme, Ghana, from 2001 to 2004 and as a finance assistant at ABSE Personnel, UK, in 2008. Thereafter worked as a part-time lecturer in 2009 at the Universities of Applied Management in Accra, Ghana, and Kingsland College of Business Studies in London, UK. Since joining Bolgatanga Technical University in 2010, have been supervising student projects and teaching undergraduate (BSc, HND, and diploma) courses in Accounting, Business Finance, Business Mathematics, Financial Analysis, Corporate Finance, Cost and Management Accounting, Money and Banking, Investment Portfolio Management, and Computer Literacy in Business. Also, an external examiner for Kumasi Technical University's MTech in Finance programme.

Brief Biography
Samuel Ataribanam (PhD) is a Lecturer in Accounting, Business Administration, Corporate governance, Business ethics and Computerized Accounting courses in various Universities on Full-time and Part-time basis in Ghana including Bolgatanga Technical University, Millar Institute for Transdisciplinary and Development Studies (MITDS), University of Cape Coast College of Distance Education, University of Education, Winneba College for Distance and e-Learning. He has over 11-years experience in teaching at the Tertiary level and over 10-years in Industry. Dr. Ataribanam obtained his BSc. Accounting With Computing with a first class honours from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, 2010. He had his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) - Accounting Option with Thesis from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Kumasi, 2013 and a PhD in Culture and Development Studies from University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale, 2021 specializing in Corporate governance and Ethics. Dr. Dr. Samuel Ataribanam further pursued and obtained a second PhD in Accounting from LIUTEBM University, Lusaka, Zambia, 2025. Dr. Ataribanam is also a Board Chairman, facilitator, consultant and motivational speaker with Reality Maker Ltd and WILFIN Foundation in Bolgatanga.

Brief Biography
Mr. Isaac Luke Agonbire Atugeba is a professional accountant with more than ten years of experience in both academia and the corporate sector in Ghana. He has made significant contributions to research on corporate governance, computerized accounting, and business performance. Mr. Atugeba has published extensively in internationally recognized journals. Besides his teaching responsibilities, he supervises undergraduate students and leads research initiatives aimed at addressing real-world challenges in accounting systems.
